A Visit to the Carmina London Store

On my last trip to London, I had the chance to visit the Carmina London store to take some photos and share with all of you what you can expect when you manage to go there yourself. Carmina’s latest shop, in the heart of Mayfair–Clifford Street to be exact–is the Spanish brand’s 9th store around the world. It carries the same styling as their other shops but has the added canopy coverings that I think give it a dash of character, as well as safe browsing on a wet London day.

Having lived in London, I am very familiar with the location as it is quite a famous corner, and close to my old local watering hole. The Carmina London shop is in a great location, just steps from Savile Row and literally in the nicest neighborhood in all of London – in terms of shopping, dining, and pubs. I think that it was a great choice for them, and I am sure that they will find much success in that location.

The inside of Carmina’s shops is nearly identical, so there is not much to say in terms of inside decor. But the staff are great. One old pal of mine, who knows a lot about shoes and patina even, works there as well as some other great staffers. During my time there, funny enough, there was a couple from New Jersey (where I currently live), and we were all talking. He claimed to be the hardest fit of all, having gone to all of Jermyn St., finding nothing, and now on his last stop to Carmina. He ended up getting two pairs of the classic horsebit loafers with the beefroll apron and couldn’t have been happier. It was nice to see the interaction and meet some of my locals, even though I am not from NJ and am soon leaving it.

Admittedly, the Carmina London store was a long time coming in my opinion. While understandably, they focused on NYC as their first major effort, I always felt that Carmina + London was like 2 + 2 = 4. It just made sense. And I am glad to see that they finally did it. And I am sure that many Londoners are, too. Being one of the most famous brands in all of footwear, it only makes sense to be in the greatest ‘shoe city’ in the world.

Well done to Carmina for making the plunge, and to all of you who have yet to visit, make sure to pop by and check out the latest and greatest from the famous Spanish shoe brand.
