Small plane crashes in remote waters off the coast of Australia


A small plane has crashed in a remote body of water off the north coast of Australia.

Northern Territory Police were contacted at 11.40am regarding reports of an incident in the water near Groote Eylandt, the largest island in the Gulf of Carpentaria. 

Emergency services have yet to reach the aircraft due to its location in a ‘very remote part of the Northern Territory’, a police spokesperson told the Daily Mail. 

Police are working to confirm the circumstances surrounding the incident.
