For a few months now, there’s been speculation that Walmart could soon launch a new version of the Onn 4K Pro, its popular Google TV-powered streaming device, which has become a solid alternative to the Fire TV Stick 4K Max and the Roku Ultra.
FCC images of a new Onn 4K Pro first surfaced in February, followed by leaked design images in March. Now, it finally looks like Walmart’s new Onn 4K Pro is officially starting to hit store shelves. At least, that’s according to one Redditor, who claims they were able to pick one up at their local Walmart recently.
Unfortunately, the new Onn 4K Pro is not yet available for purchase online, though its store page is now live on Walmart’s website, which includes all its details and specs.
First and foremost, the new Onn 4K Pro costs $60, about $15 more than the last-gen model. It runs Google TV, like all the other Onn devices, and features 3GB of RAM, 32GB of storage, a quad-core CPU, and Wi-Fi 6 capabilities. However, these specs are identical to the last-gen model, which makes this feel more like a re-release than a proper refresh.
Additionally, in terms of features, it’s got all the same capabilities as before, including Dolby Vision and HDR10+ support, as well as Dolby Atmos audio.
So the big question here is: what exactly is the difference? Well, it all comes down to the design.

The new Onn 4K Pro looks like the Google TV Streamer
Unfortunately, it has one key downside
The biggest difference between the new Onn 4K Pro and the last-gen version is the design. The previous model had a more rounded, squarish look, while the new model closely mirrors the elongated design of the Google TV Streamer, but in black.
Personally, I like the look of the Google TV Streamer quite a bit more than the old Onn 4K Pro, so I don’t mind this new look at all. For reference, the Google TV Streamer costs $100, and the new Onn 4K Pro is $60, so there is quite a price difference between the two.
Looking at the I/O on the new Onn 4K Pro, it largely mirrors that of the last-gen model, but there’s unfortunately one key downgrade. Both include a USB port, but Walmart’s product listing notes that the new version uses USB 2.0, while the older model had USB 3.0. So, if you’re planning to connect external storage to watch your own media, that’s a disappointing hit to speeds.
The new Onn 4K Pro is also equipped with an Ethernet port, as before, but it’s still limited to 100 Mbps, which is disappointing.
The new Onn 4K Pro is also equipped with an Ethernet port, as before, but it’s still limited to 100 Mbps, which is disappointing. I was really hoping to see it upgraded to Gigabit Ethernet, which maxes out at 1 Gbps, like the Google TV Streamer has, but that just isn’t the case here.
As for when the new Onn 4K Pro will be widely available, that isn’t exactly clear yet. Its store page on Walmart’s website just says it’s “Out of stock,” and there’s no indication of when it will be in stock. However, now that it’s being spotted on store shelves, it could be any day now.
