And one of the most memorable recurring characters in this series (who had his own series back when the Defenders gang was still on Netflix) is Jon Berthal’s Frank Castle AKA The Punisher.

And while we haven’t seen much from Frank outside a few scenes in Darevevil’s most recent series, this notorious character is finally taking the spotlight in his own 50-minute special, which serves as a bridge to this summer’s blockbuster Spider-Man: Brand New Day, which will mark this character’s big screen debut. The Punisher: One Last Kill is now streaming exclusively on Disney+

Instead of making this special available on multiple streaming platforms like they do with their films and a few of their shows, Marvel has chosen to make The Punisher: One Last Kill exclusive to Disney+. Interestingly, they have also classified it as a “special presentation” instead of a straight-to-streaming movie or as part of the larger Daredevil: Born Again series.

The special is certified fresh on Rotten Tomatoes

Early reviews of The Punisher: One Last Kill have been extremely positive, with the special currently holding an 85% “Fresh” rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Writing for The Daily Beast, reviewer Nick Schager praised the special’s commitment to bloody action, saying, “In terms of no-holds-barred ultra-violence, it’s like John Wick times one thousand.”

CBR also praised the special, lauding it as one of the best Punisher adaptations yet, but lamenting some of the special’s pacing issues due to its short runtime.
