A young man was electrocuted while trying to save his girlfriend’s life after she fell onto train tracks at a Boston subway station this weekend.
Frankey Wright Jr, 19, lost his life after touching the live third rail of the subway tracks at Forest Hills MBTA Station on Saturday morning.
Wright and his girlfriend, who has not been named, entered the station together, carrying flags representing Caribbean countries after celebrating Boston’s 53rd annual Caribbean Festival on Saturday morning.
The woman was unsteady on her feet, lost balance and fell onto the platform near the yellow warning strip, WCVB reported.
Wright Jr tried to help her but when she got back on her feet, she fell backward again, MBTA Transit Police said.
Trying to help her again, Wright Jr fell onto the tracks and landed on the electrified third rail which he did not survive. The woman was critically injured and was taken to a hospital.
Foul play is not suspected, the MBTA Transit Police said.
Transit Police Superintendent, Richard Sullivan, said: ‘This appears to be a horrific tragedy and on behalf of the Transit Police Department and the entire MBTA organization we express our most sincere condolences to the decedent’s family and friends. Our thoughts and prayers are with them.’

The Transit Police declined to confirm Wright Jr’s identity as the victim but the family has launched a GoFundMe for their ‘beloved cousin’ who was ‘electrocuted on a train railing in a tragic accident while trying to save his girlfriend’

The Transit Police confirmed the man’s identity upon request from the Daily Mail.
Wright Jr’s father, Frankey Wright, told Boston 25 that his son was headed to the Caribbean Festival with his girlfriend.
Frankey’s 23-year-old brother, Justice Wright, told the Daily Mail: ‘I just can’t even stomach the fact that he is gone. I am sitting in his room right now. I keep praying that he will just walk through the door.
‘I want the world to know that my brother was kind, he was humble, he was honest and whatever he put his mind to, he was able to do.
‘He should be looked at as a hero for what he did, what he thought was right and that was trying to save his girlfriend. I do feel that if he were to be alive and it were to happen again, he would do it all over again to save her.’
He also told the Daily Mail that the woman is his younger brother’s girlfriend, Jaxlyn Brown and that Brown is still in a coma. The MBTA Transit Police declined to confirm her identity upon the Daily Mail’s request for comment.
The family also started a GoFundMe for their ‘beloved cousin whose life was taken far too soon.’
The page states that ‘Frankey was electrocuted on a train railing in a tragic accident while trying to save his girlfriend.
‘Those closest to him will always remember Frankey as a noble boy with a big heart, someone who put others before himself even in his final moments.
‘This fundraiser is being created to help give Frankey the good service he deserves and to honor his life with love and dignity.’
The Daily Mail contacted Wright Jr’s family for comment.
