Sustainable Retailer Packaging Updates : Co-op sustainable packaging

This new Co-op sustainable packaging initiative is being run by the grocer in the UK to help reduce its reliance on plastic packaging and shift to more sustainable alternatives. The packaging initiative will reportedly remove 115 tones of plastic per year from the brand’s private label products thanks to a series of sustainable packaging innovations that span bakery, produce and protein. The various packaging options will save tens of tonnes of plastic packaging each year, while also making the recycling process easier for consumers.

Group Property and Sustainability Director Heather Thomas spoke on the Co-op sustainable packaging initiative saying, “Co-op is committed to making a difference to the lives of our members and the world in which they live. These new packaging developments will have a substantial impact across our operations, eliminating millions of pieces of plastic and importantly simplifying home recycling for our members and customers.”
