One of John Wayne’s greatest Westerns is now free to stream

There’s no doubt that John Wayne is one of the most influential actors of all time. I’ll never forget one of the first movies I ever saw him in, The Longest Day, where he played a paratrooper leading men on D-Day. While Wayne starred in more than 100 movies throughout his career, he is perhaps best known for the iconic roles he played in Westerns, a genre he helped define over the course of his decades-long career.

Wayne starred in Westerns across six different decades, from the 1930s through the 1970s, with defining roles in legendary films like The Searchers (1959), The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance (1962), and True Grit (1969), the latter of which earned him the Best Actor Oscar at the 1970 Academy Awards.

And while Wayne has a long list of Western credits, one of my personal favorites is also one of his earliest: Stagecoach, released in 1939 and widely considered one of the greatest Westerns ever made.

Directed by John Ford, Stagecoach follows a group of strangers from different walks of life who board a stagecoach through dangerous Apache territory. Among them is Ringo Kid (John Wayne), an escaped outlaw seeking revenge for his family’s murder. As tensions rise among the passengers and the threat of an Apache attack looms, Ringo and the others are forced to set aside their differences and rely on one another to survive the journey.

If you’ve never seen Stagecoach before, or you’ve been meaning to rewatch it, now is the perfect time, since it’s available to stream for free.

Stagecoach is now available on YouTube

You can stream this legendary Western movie for free

While YouTube is home to millions of videos uploaded by content creators, the platform also offers a large selection of movies you can buy, rent, or stream for free through YouTube’s official Movies & TV channel. One of the free movies currently available is Stagecoach.

That means you can watch Stagecoach in its entirety for free on YouTube, with the only catch being that you’ll have to sit through a few ads during the movie, since YouTube is largely supported by ads.

However, if you don’t want to watch ads during the movie, you can subscribe to YouTube Premium, which removes ads from videos and free movies on the platform.

Alternatively, if you’d rather add Stagecoach to your physical media collection, the movie is also available on Blu-ray from Amazon.
