Netflix‘s How to Ruin, Seriously Single and Disaster Holiday franchises are getting new editions as part of the streamer’s latest South African slate.

Following the launch of Blood Legacy Season 2 on September 25, Netflix will debut Seriously Single Too, Another Disaster Holiday later this year, with Tuiskoms Season 2, Marked Season 2 and Meet the Khumalos 2 also in production.

How to Ruin Diwali: Mee the Parents launches on October 30 and Dineo and Zothile ‘Solo Ntsizwa’ Langa have been confirmed as the hosts of Love is Blind: South Africa. Docuseries Stars & Vows: Anele and Buzza is another debuting in 2026.

How to Ruin Diwali: Meet The Parents comes from Burnt Onion Productions in collaboration with producer, Jayan Moodley. The show takes an irreverent look at an interracial couple whose engagement brings together two very different families and cultures. Moodley’s comedy The Kandasamys drew on similar South African Indian family tropes.

Per the synopsis, it follows overachieving perfectionist Mmabatho Nkomo meeting her fiance’s traditional Indian family for the first time as her desperate attempt to impress backfires when she accidentally exposes her future father-in-law’s secret affair. With Diwali only days away, Mmabatho must navigate unfamiliar cultural territory and reunite the family she has torn apart without causing even more chaos.

Rosemary Zimu-Mnguni, Kyle Clark, Jailoshini Naidoo, Koobeshen Naidoo, Sonia Mbele, Meshack Mavuso, Luthando ‘BU’Mthembu,  Denise Zimba and Ashish Gangapersad star.

Another Disaster Holiday, directed by Rethabile Ramaphakela, sees Joseph Ngema (Kenneth Nkosi) preparing to become a dad again at 50 and fighting to prove he is still father of the year. Per the preamble, “Under the guise of a romantic Sun City babymoon with a heavily pregnant Nandi, Joseph sets out to crash his children’s holiday with his ex-wife Dora and the hot younger boyfriend stealing his thunder. Enter Kay Sibiya, who joins the returning star-studded cast as Dora’s new bae and Joseph’s newest competition. Naturally, disaster follows.”

Seriously Single Too, also directed by Ramaphakela, sees Dineo (Fulu Mugovhani) and Noni (Tumi Morake) return, though their friendship may not last their latest trip. The pic follow what is supposed to be a wild bachelorette getaway in Cape Town for the now-estranged friends turn into a disastrous chain of events that leaves them on the brink. Also starring are Buntu Petse, Keke Mphuthi, Yonda Thomas and Thabiso Rammusi.

Romcom series Tuiskoms‘s second season sees Fleur (Amalia Uys) and Werner (Armand Aucamp) preparing for their wedding, before their carefully planned future takes an unexpected turn. Per the synopsis, “At the same time, a free-spirited woman with a complicated past returns to Wilderness after years away, hoping to reconnect with the family she left behind. Across the town, old wounds, new beginnings and unexpected connections reshape the lives of those who call it home.” Uys and Aucamp star alongside Kim Syster, Jane de Wet and Clint Brink.

Netflix recently found a hit out of South Africa in the shape of The Polygamist, which generated over 24 million views in its first weeks, reached the Top 10 in 62 countries and ranked first in 22 countries. The streamer is this week celebrating ten years in the country, and has trotted out several stats backing its performance there.

During a press showcase in Rosebank, Johannesburg, where Netflix executives, filmmakers and on-screen talent gathered to mark the occasion, the streamer claimed to have supported 8,000 jobs through partnerships with more than 30 local production companies. Its local originals have included Blood and Water, Silverton Siege, Fatal Seduction and most recent Umthetho, and have been filmed in 20 cities across eight provinces. Netflix claims to have offered more than 300 local titles in total over the past decade, including acquisitions.

“Ten years ago, we set out to share South African stories and voices with the world and today, we are proud to strengthen our partnership with the local creative industry and continue creating exciting stories that will entertain our members in South Africa and around the world,” said Ben Amadasun, VP of Content for Netflix Middle East and Africa.

“Our slate ahead keeps that ambition alive with the addition of established names alongside bold new production partners across genres from unscripted to thrillers, family dramas and comedy.”

Netflix also teased a new scripted series from Shaka iLembe maker The Bomb Shelter Film Productions and a multi-title partnership with The River producer Tshedza Pictures for four scripted series.
