Multiple people were shot at a Maryland shopping center, as a gunman forced customers to run for their lives.

As many as three people were shot around 4.40pm on Friday afternoon in Northeast Baltimore near the Coldspring Shopping Center, according to CBS Baltimore. 

The known victims were all men: two 24-year-olds and one 25-year-old, the outlet reported.

They were taken to the hospital with with life-threatening injuries and listed in stable condition. 

City police were called to the HipHop Fish & Chicken fast food chain at the mall for a shooting, SKY 11 reported.

In total, four people were taken to a hospital, according to the outlet. The extent of their injuries was not immediately revealed.

Baltimore police was still searching the area for victims after the shooting.

A mass casualty alert has been sent out, the outlet reported.

Police received multiple calls regarding numerous shots fired at the location.

A suspect had not immediately been named by law enforcement.

The Maryland Transit Administration has also announced the LocalLink 28 bus is temporarily detouring in both directions until 7pm because of police activity.

In response, police have shut down East Cold Spring Lane, where the mall is, in both directions.

Authorities also closed one southbound lane of Loch Raven Boulevard after the shooting.

As of late Friday afternoon, no further information has been released about the shopping center shooting.
