Michael Fassbender and Alicia Vikander made a stylish — and loved-up — appearance on the Cannes Film Festival red carpet.
On Sunday, May 17, the couple stepped out for the premiere of their movie Hope. They smiled, embraced and held hands as they posed for photographers.
Vikander, 37, looked glamorous in a white sleeveless, floor-length dress featuring sheer panels on the skirt. Her hair was styled in soft curls, and she accessorized with simple jewelry.
Fassbender, meanwhile, cut a dashing figure in a classic black tuxedo with a double-breasted jacket, slim-fitting pants and a black bowtie. The actor, 49, topped off his look with a pair of black shades.

Fassbender and Vikander appear together in the upcoming period drama, which also stars Taylor Russell and Squid Games' Hoyeon.
According to IndieWire, the movie follows residents of a secluded harbor town as a "mysterious discovery is made."
During a March 2025 Today show appearance promoting his thriller Black Bag, Fassbender revealed that he and Vikander filmed their scenes for Hope separately.
"We’re big fans of Na Hong-jin, he’s directing this movie Hope. He did films like The Whaling, The Yellow Sea, The Chaser. We were big fans of his work," the actor said.

"Alicia reached out to him. And he approached us to be in this movie. We are in the scene together, but we were never on set together," Fassbender explained, before joking, "It’s a stipulation we insist on that we can’t be on the same set together. It keeps our marriage intact."
"No, it was just down to scheduling because I was shooting Black Bag and then The Agency, so I had to go out earlier," he added. "So I shot my stuff with a stand-in for her, and then she did the same for me."

Fassbender's comments on the movie came months after Vikander shared that she and her husband welcomed their second baby together shortly before they filmed Hope in South Korea. The couple previously welcomed a son in 2021; they have not shared their children's names publicly.
