John Lennon and Yoko Ono’s son Sean Ono Lennon has welcomed his first baby with partner Charlotte Kemp Muhl.

“@charlottekempmuhl and I have created a Human Bean!” Sean, 50, wrote via Instagram on Tuesday, September 1, alongside a photo of himself and Muhl, 39, holding their infant son.

Sean continued, “His name is Aurelius! Thank you!”

Along with the announcement, Sean shared two separate posts containing a selfie with Aurelius and a photo of Muhl holding their son in a hospital bed.

“Baby Momma!” he captioned the image.

Sean did not share when exactly Aurelius was born.

Many fans and friends celebrated the news in the comments section, with Paris Hilton writing, “Congratulations on your new baby!”

Sean’s brother, Julian Lennon, also shared the photos via his own Instagram and added, “❤️❤️❤️❤️.”

Aurelius is the first grandchild of Yoko, 93, and John, who died at age 40 in December 1980 after being shot by Mark David Chapman, a man who became obsessed with John and The Beatles.

Muhl added, “We courted each other through letters. It was actually super-old-fashioned.”

Sean continued of their first meeting, “Basically she was the coolest-looking person I’d ever seen, and within seven seconds of talking to her, it was obvious that she was smarter than me, but I had the advantage that I was 100 years older, so I’ve been exploiting that ever since.”

The Beatles was founded in 1960 by John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr. Both before and after the group’s disbandment eight years later, the musicians each became fathers. “I’ve always just tried […]

Unlike his parents and their world-famous romance, Sean and Muhl have kept a fairly low profile over the years, although they have performed as a musical duo named The Ghost of a Saber Tooth Tiger.

In April 2025, Sean opened up about John and Yoko’s very public lives and how it impacted his childhood. (Sean was 5 years old when his father died.)

“I think it’s really interesting that John and Yoko famously recorded their lives all the time via video — I mean, via 16 millimeter film,” he told Variety at the time. “The fact that they were doing that in the early ‘70s, before reality television and before social media and before memes … as far as I am concerned, it’s like they were the first reality TV celebrity couple.”

He continued, “Because I grew up without my dad around, every recording of his voice and every video of him that people have seen, it’s a limited resource.”
