GMA Colleagues Who Spoke Out After Janai Norman’s Exit

When Janai Norman announced she would be leaving Good Morning America in April 2026, her fans were shocked, to say the least. Norman revealed the news in a video posted via Instagram — one in which she said it breaks her heart that she never got the chance to say goodbye on the show.

Several of her GMA and ABC costars quickly voiced their support in the comments section of her post. The network itself has not spoken out about Norman’s exit.

What Janai Norman Said in Her ‘GMA’ Exit Announcement

“I hoped that we’d have more time, and it’s been hard on me that our time was cut short,” Norman said in an April 2026 Instagram video. “I have loved my job. It has been a joy to connect with my coworkers and with viewers, to help keep you informed and entertained, and to create this community.”

She continued, “So it really breaks my heart that I don’t get to say goodbye. I’m so sorry that I don’t get to say goodbye. It would’ve been fun. But I have these three young kids, and I have worked weekends their whole lives, and so now they get more of me. And that is worth everything.”

Norman concluded the clip saying, “So stay tuned. I’m sorry. I feel you, and thank you to every single one of you who has reached out with such kind, validating words. I have needed it, and I appreciate it.”

“This community has meant so much to me. You’ve welcomed me into your homes, trusted me through major weather moments and even shared in my life beyond the forecast,” Leslie said in a statement.
