A ‘number of people’ have been arrested after allegedly threatening three Scots College students accused of raping a teenage girl, according to the principal. 

The alleged sexual assault took place on July 22, with the three teenage boys arrested on Thursday.

Two boys, aged 13 and 14, were each charged with aggravated sexual assault in company and two counts of aggravated sexual touching of another person.

A third boy, aged 14, was charged with one count of aggravated sexual assault in company and one count of aggravated sexual touching of another person.

The news of several arrests was shared by Dr Ian Lambert in an email to parents on Sunday, which was seen by The Daily Telegraph.

‘Police have advised that a number of young people – none of them Scots students – have been arrested in relation to recent activity directed towards those involved in the matter currently under investigation,’ he said.

‘Police are also aware of concerning online commentary within the wider community and have asked that young people do not post threats, organise action or otherwise involve themselves.’

The arrests came after a Scots College mother whose son had been linked on social media to one of the three boys accused of the alleged rape launched a foul-mouthed tirade during a phone call with the Daily Mail on Friday.

While the boys cannot be identified for legal reasons, three names have circulated online since the serious charges were made public.

The Mail contacted the mother of one of the boys named online. She did not deny that her son was one of the three teenagers charged but claimed her son and family were being ‘threatened’.

‘You know what? Tell your f***ing bosses to turn off the comments so that my son is not fucking harassed by people,’ she shouted.

Her anger centred on a social media account that had named her family in connection with the case, which has plunged one of Sydney’s most expensive private schools into scandal.

‘I’m telling you now, tell your bosses, tell somebody to turn off the comments,’ she continued.

‘I’m getting f***ing threats.’

 All three were granted strict conditional bail and are due to appear before a children’s court on August 25.

Police also executed search warrants at homes connected to the investigation, seizing several electronic devices for forensic examination.

Officers also seized two replica firearms, including a Glock-style BB gun, three laser pointers and a number plate allegedly stolen from one of the homes.

Those items will also undergo forensic testing.

The arrests sent shockwaves through the exclusive Bellevue Hill school.

Less than 24 hours before the boys were charged, Scots College quietly announced it was postponing its annual ‘Giving Day’.

‘In light of the news affecting our College community this week, Giving Day has been postponed to Monday 17 August,’ the school wrote on Facebook.

‘Thank you for your understanding and support. We look forward to coming together on Monday.’

As police continue their investigation, the allegations have placed the elite eastern suburbs school under intense scrutiny, while families connected to those accused have also found themselves under an unforgiving online spotlight.

The charges remain allegations and have not been tested in court.
