Tyler Robinson’s defense was dealt a massive blow after the judge ruled prosecutors can play never-before-seen footage of his moments on the day Charlie Kirk was killed.
After months of back-and-forth over the footage, Judge Tony Graf allowed video of Robinson driving into a parking garage, walking away, returning, and leaving to be played in court today.
Former Utah State Bureau of Investigation agent David Hull described the footage as it was played in court, and revealed that Robinson spoke with members of Kirk’s group, Turning Point USA, and got Chick-fil-A before the shooting.
Robinson’s parents appeared to smile as they arrived for the second day of his key evidence hearing, where prosecutors are expected to play testimony from his transgender lover.
Kirk’s parents, Robert and Kathryn Kirk, looked somber as they arrived at the Utah courthouse on Tuesday, while his widow quietly entered through a private entrance after a dramatic first day in court.
Robinson, 23, is accused of fatally shooting Kirk as the conservative firebrand spoke in front of thousands of people at Utah Valley University on September 10, 2025.
Prosecutors are expected to play bombshell testimony from Robinson’s transgender lover, Lance Twiggs, who goes by Luna, today.
Robinson allegedly confessed to Twiggs that he had shot and killed Kirk before turning himself in.
Prosecutors are seeking the death penalty against Robinson and are using the hearing to prove that he should stand trial for murder.

Never-before-seen video of Tyler Robinson before Charlie Kirk shooting is shown in court
Never-before-seen footage of Tyler Robinson’s moments the day of Charlie Kirk’s assassination is being shown in court.
The video showed a car that investigators say belongs to Robinson arrive at Utah Valley University’s campus at 8.30am on September 10, 2025.
Former Utah State Bureau of Investigation agent David Hull said they identified the vehicle as Robinson’s based on information they were provided about his driver’s license and vehicle records.
Hull then identified Robinson as the man in a red shirt walking out of the parking garage.
Court takes 15-minute recess
Judge Tony Graf ordered a 15-minute morning break after prosecutors finished presenting bombshell video evidence of Tyler Robinson’s movements the day of the shooting.
Court is expected to resume at 10.30am MT/12.30pm ET.
Robinson interacted with Turning Point USA reps before shooting
Former Utah State Bureau of Investigation agent David Hull testified that Tyler Robinson interacted with members of Charlie Kirk’s group before the shooting.
Robinson allegedly went to an amphitheater and interacted with Turning Point USA members before leaving.
He eventually returned to campus and bought food from Chick-fil-A about two hours before the shooting, Hull said.
Robinson made contact with police when he drove back to campus day after shooting
Footage allegedly showed Tyler Robinson’s vehicle being stopped by police on Utah Valley University’s campus the day after Charlie Kirk was shot.
Robinson’s car was stopped by police around 12.30am on September 11, and the officer ran his plate and identified that the car belonged to Robinson’s mother.
Hull testifies Robinson walked around with a limp
Former agent David Hull said Robinson was seen in another video returning to campus in different clothing and walking with a limp, with one leg held mostly straight.
Robinson allegedly walked in front of the Losee building then to the area where he could access the building’s roof.
On Monday, former Utah Valley University Officer Chris Bagley testified that he saw a ‘sniper pad’ in the gravel atop the Losee building roof.
Another clip show an individual, believed to be Robinson, climbing onto the roof, running across it and then laying prone in the corner of the building.
The individual then lowers himself off the roof and leaves the area while carrying something in his hand at 12.44pm, according to Hull.
Tyler Robinson bought Chick-fil-A on day of shooting
Former Utah State Bureau of Investigation agent David Hull testified that Tyler Robinson purchased Chick-fil-A on the day of the shooting.
Other clips from the never-before-seen footage allegedly showed Robinson walking with a backpack, then later being seen without the bag.
Judge rules footage of Charlie Kirk murder suspect fleeing scene can be played
Judge Tony Graf has allowed footage of Charlie Kirk’s alleged assassin fleeing the scene after prosecutors removed their edits.
Graf initially rejected the video on Monday because the prosecution had altered it by zooming in at certain places and drawing circles around certain items.
On Tuesday, prosecutors said they had removed the edits, and Graf agreed to allow it to be played, despite objections from the defense.
Tyler Robinson’s attorneys argued publishing the video could impact his ability to have a fair trial.
Hearing kicks off with arguments over video
Day two of the key evidence hearing began with arguments over footage of the Charlie Kirk murder suspect fleeing the scene.
Prosecutors brought back former Utah State Bureau of Investigation agent David Hull to the stand on Tuesday to discuss the video.
Judge Tony Graf rejected the prosecution’s compilation footage on Monday because it was edited.
However on Tuesday, prosecutors said they removed the edits.
A lawyer representing the media interjected on Tuesday and argued the footage should be made public.
Who is Judge Tony Graf?
Utah’s Fourth District Court Judge Tony Graf is presiding over the case against Charlie Kirk’s alleged assassin, Tyler Robinson.
Graf was appointed to the bench by Utah’s Republican Governor, Spencer Cox in May 2025.
‘Tony Graf brings a steady hand, strong ethics, and the kind of judgment we count on in Utah’s judiciary,’ Cox said in a statement.
Graf previously worked as a prosecutor in Davis County where he prosecuted physical and sexual abuse cases.
He earned both his bachelor’s and law degree from the University of Utah.
Erika Kirk quietly brought into court for day two of evidence hearing
Erika Kirk appeared to enter the courthouse through a private entrance today.
As the hearing began, Judge Tony Graf confirmed she was present, but she was not seen arriving through the front entrance with Charlie’s parents.
Who are Tyler Robinson’s family?
The parents of Charlie Kirk’s suspected killer Tyler Robinson have continued to stand by their alleged assassin son in court as his pre-trial hearings got underway.
Matt and Amber Robinson appeared in court in Provo, Utah, this week as prosecutors began presenting evidence against their son Tyler, 23, over Kirk’s assassination in September 2025.
Robinson’s father works as a construction worker, and his mother is a care worker.
Prosecutors have said accused killer Tyler Robinson left a note for his roommate and romantic partner Lance Twiggs confessing to the killing.
The note read, ‘I had the opportunity to take out Charlie Kirk and I´m going to take it.’
They also said he wrote to Twigg in a text message about Kirk: ‘I had enough of his hatred. Some hate can’t be negotiated out.’
But ahead of the trial, Twigg – Robinson’s transgender lover – was granted ‘use-immunity’ for a statement he gave to officials on April 20.
Prosecutors plan to use the 22-year-old’s recorded statement, as well as his communications with Robinson around the time of Kirk’s murder, at today’s preliminary hearing.
The legal protection means that the statement Twiggs made to authorities following Kirk’s death ‘could not be used against him,’ prosecutors said in the filing.
