A nursing graduate got a major surprise during her commencement ceremony after her husband, a deployed soldier, unexpectedly showed up.

Brynn Eddlemon was at her graduation from the nursing program at Spoon River College in Illinois on May 14 when the emotional reunion happened with her husband, Triston Eddlemon, a movement control officer with the Army’s 969th Movement Control Team, according to 25NewsNow.

When Brynn's name was called, she was under the impression Triston was in Texas, where has been deployed since February. However, he was hiding at the event in Canton as the staff found a spot for him to surprise her.

"Right now we are in the middle of staging a pretty big surprise for my wife who does not know that I am here,” he said in a pre-event video.

Brynn crossed the stage to accept her associate's degree and went to walk back down, when she saw Triston waiting for her.

The two had an emotional hug as the crowd cheered for the couple.

"You okay?" he asked her during the moment, but she was speechless. They then posed for photos together later on at the ceremony.

“Congratulations to her, I'm so proud of her. She's been pulling the whole mom thing on top of working and nursing school, so it's been endless challenges with her. But she has persevered, she got here and she's amazing," Triston added in his video.

Triston previously graduated from Spoon River College in 2022, and the couple married in July 2024 with a ceremony in Canton, according to Zola.

Brynn said about the special graduation moment, “I'm very surprised and overwhelmed with emotion."
