Horsö is a low-key coastal summer house by BROSS and Nick Flygt Arkitekter, set beside a nature reserve and the Baltic Sea to offer a peaceful retreat that blends into its surroundings. The structure’s low, horizontal orientation mirrors the landscape, while its palette of untreated timber, stone, and local wood ensures it will age gracefully. Large, recessed glazed sections create a gentle connection between inside and outside, drawing nature in without dominating the site.
The layout is divided into private and social volumes, preserving both intimacy and function. A sturdy concrete plinth elevates the house to minimize environmental impact while anticipating rising ground conditions. Custom furnishings and refined detailing continue the ethos of subtle integration, resulting in a space that feels grounded, timeless, and beautifully attuned to the rhythms of its coastal landscape.
