Aegon’s Conquest brings Westeros to cinemas
In its Q2 2026 Shareholder Letter, Warner Bros. Discovery
confirmed development on Aegon’s Conquest. Written by Beau Willimon, the
prequel follows Aegon I Targaryen alongside his sister-wives, Visenya and
Rhaenys, as they invade and unite the Seven Kingdoms. The major theatrical
event film is set for release beyond 2027.
“Beyond 2027, the slate will continue to leverage iconic
intellectual property, including the theatrical event film Aegon’s Conquest
from the Game of Thrones universe, the next installment of The Matrix,
the next Batman film, and a live-action Jetsons film starring Jim Carrey,”

According to Q2 2026 Shareholder Letter, the Westeros
prequel, Warner Bros. outlined an ambitious slate designed to drive global
audience engagement through established franchises. The 2027 lineup features
Taylor Sheridan’s F.A.S.T., James Gunn’s Man of Tomorrow, and
Bradley Cooper’s Oceans alongside Margot Robbie. According to Warner Bros. Discovery, endless storytelling opportunities across the established fantasy universe await!
“We will build on this momentum in 2027 with a slate that reflects our continued focus on extending valuable franchises, cultivating event-level theatrical releases, and delivering a balanced portfolio designed to reach a diverse global audience, drive audience engagement, and create long-term value,” the Q2 2026 Shareholder Letter reads.
