New York Jets fans have been left incensed after it was confirmed that the franchise have agreed to trade defensive end Jermaine Johnson to the Tennessee Titans.
In exchange for Johnson, who was selected by the Jets in the first round of the 2022 NFL Draft, New York will receive defensive tackle T’Vondre Sweat from the Titans.
The move will see Johnson reunited with former Jets head coach Robert Saleh, who was in charge of the franchise when they drafted the defensive end four years ago.
During his first two seasons, Johnson recorded 10 sacks before tearing his Achilles just two games into the 2024 season.
He made his return last season where he recorded 43 tackles and three sacks.
While the deal has already been agreed, according to multiple reports, it cannot be officially processed until the start of the new league year on March 11th.

As news of the trade spread across social media, it didn’t take long for Jets fans to vent their frustrations at the deal.
Taking to X, one fan wrote: ‘Jets flip Johnson for Sweat? Either that’s a culture reset or one front office just blinked – because you don’t swap young trench talent unless you’re betting big.’
‘My jets stay giving me reasons to give up on them,’ another wrote.
Meanwhile, one said: ‘Jets really said we don’t want the pass rusher we want the big body in the middle. That’s an ‘L’ for New York’.
‘What are the jets doing??,’ another wrote on the social media platform.
The Jets are expected to make a number of trades during the offseason after yet another disappointing season saw them fall to a 3-14 record.
