A Texas high school football coach has been arrested and charged with multiple child sex crimes after allegedly having a seven-year relationship with a former student.

According to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, Nicholas Alan Codutti, 43, was taken into custody on Saturday following a five-month investigation into the matter.

The veteran coach, who most recently served as the head football coach and athletic coordinator at Klein High School, has been charged with felony indecency with a child and sexual performance by a child. 

According to documents obtained by ABC13, the alleged abuse took place between 2018 and 2019 while Codutti was employed as an assistant football coach at Tomball High School. 

Investigators allege that the relationship started after Codutti and the student, who was 16-years-old at the time, exchanged messages on social media before later sharing explicit photographs with each other.

The victim, now 24, told authorities that she began babysitting for Codutti and his wife, during which time physical sexual encounters allegedly occurred at his home.

Court records claim that the student and coach engaged in sexual encounters across multiple locations, including inside a coaches’ office in the Tomball High School weight room and at a local gym.

The victim also told detectives there were instances where she left campus with Codutti during lunch periods, with their first sexual intercourse allegedly taking place in February 2019.

Authorities allege the relationship continued long after the victim graduated from high school, persisting into her adulthood until around September 2025.

Codutti was booked into the Harris County Jail over the weekend and appeared before a judge for a probable cause hearing, where his bond was set at $50,000 for each charge, totaling $100,000.

Records confirm Codutti posted the $100,000 bond on Sunday and was released from custody ahead of a scheduled court appearance on Monday morning. 

In a letter sent to school families on Saturday, Klein ISD officials explained that Codutti had been placed on administrative leave and removed from campus in May 2026 when the district was first notified of the allegations. 

‘We have just been cleared by outside law enforcement to provide information regarding now-former Klein High Athletic Coordinator Nick Codutti. 

‘We have been notified that criminal charges have been accepted against him related to an alleged matter that occurred while he was employed in another school district, prior to joining and completely unrelated to Klein ISD.

‘Since we first learned of these allegations and informed Klein High staff and families in May 2026, Nick Codutti has remained on administrative leave and away from students. Upon receiving this information from law enforcement regarding criminal charges, his employment with Klein ISD was terminated.

‘As we shared previously, prior to being hired, Nick Codutti successfully completed all required background checks and received positive professional references from previous employers. At the time of hiring and thereafter, Klein ISD had no information related to the alleged conduct now resulting in criminal charges.

‘We recognize how troubling this information is, and we share your concern. Klein ISD takes criminal charges involving student safety extremely seriously, and when information comes to our attention that raises concerns about an employee remaining in a position of trust with our students, we act swiftly and decisively. 

‘The safety and well-being of our students remain our highest responsibility.’
