Young boy, 12, is killed and three others rushed to hospital after allegedly stolen vehicle crashes in Stratford, Cairns


A 12-year-old boy has died after an allegedly stolen vehicle crashed in Far North Queensland.

The grey Toyota Fortuner wagon was being driven along Stratford Road at Stratford, in Cairns, when it left the roadway and rolled on at 4.13am on Sunday.

The young boy was flung from the vehicle and landed on nearby train tracks. He was declared dead at the scene.

Two men, 20 and 22, and a woman, 19, were rushed to Cairns Hospital.

A Queensland Police spokesman said the Toyota was reported stolen from Pomona Avenue, in Mooroobool, at 3am.

An investigation has been launched. 

The corner of Stratford Road is known locally as ‘Suicide Bend’.
