There are many iconic trilogies in the movie world that, over the course of three films, transport you to another world. You have The Lord of the Rings and The Dark Knight trilogy, The Godfather, Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man, the original Indiana Jones trilogy, and, of course, my personal favorite of all time, the original Star Wars trilogy. That’s a lot of trilogies.
But what’s less common than a trilogy? A four-film series. There aren’t many of them, but one of the most iconic is based on a massively popular book series you’ve maybe heard of: The Hunger Games.
The original Hunger Games film series was released throughout the 2010s and consists of The Hunger Games, The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, and The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1 and The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2. Because Mockingjay was split into two films, the series is technically a four-film saga, or a quadrilogy, rather than a trilogy.
If you’re unfamiliar with The Hunger Games movies, they’re adapted from a series of novels by Suzanne Collins. The story takes place in the dystopian nation of Panem, which is divided into 12 districts and ruled by the totalitarian Capitol. The original four films star Jennifer Lawrence as Katniss Everdeen, who volunteers to take her sister’s place in the Hunger Games, an annual televised tournament in which contestants from each district fight to the death. The films are packed with action and emotion, evoking themes of survival, rebellion, sacrifice, and love.
And if you’ve never seen any of The Hunger Games films before, or could use a rewatch, now is the perfect time, as the four-film series is now streaming completely for free on demand — no subscription required.

Pluto TV and Tubi offer tons of free movies to watch
If you’re looking for more to watch for free beyond The Hunger Games, Philo has over 130 free, ad-supported TV channels to check out. There are also other free streaming services I recommend exploring, such as Plex, Tubi, The Roku Channel, and Pluto TV, which offer extensive libraries of free, ad-supported TV shows and movies.
In particular, Pluto TV added several iconic hits in May that you can stream for free, including Top Gun: Maverick and several Mission: Impossible movies. Meanwhile, Tubi added some Daniel Craig James Bond films this month: Casino Royale and No Time to Die.
