You can already buy Coyote vs. Acme on these streaming platforms

It has been a long road to the multiplex for Coyote vs. Acme, following its shelving by Warner Bros. back in 2023. However, against all odds, the hybrid live action/animation film made it to theaters this past weekend (with a little help from indie studio Ketchup Entertainment) to great fanfare, notching a 96% Fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes and earning $15.5 million in its debut weekend at the US box office, which was good enough for a second-place finish right behind blockbuster behemoth Spider-Man: Brand New Day.

The film stars Will Poulter as small claims lawyer Kevin Avery, who is hired by the eponymous Coyote to sue Acme for the various defective devices the latter has used to chase the Road Runner over the years. However, Acme isn’t going down without a fight and with hotshot corporate lawyer Buddy Crane (played by a hilarious John Cena) representing the mega-corporation, Avery is ready to throw in the towel before the trial even starts. However, with the help of his legal intern and niece Paige (Lana Condor) as well as several familiar Looney Tunes characters, this underdog team might just stand a chance.

Though the movie will be in theaters for several more weeks, if you can’t wait to get your hands on this film’s upcoming streaming release, you can already pre-order it. And we have some good news about the eventual physical release as well.

Pre-orders for Coyote vs. Acme are already available on several major platforms

Currently the release date is TBD, but October seems likely

While we don’t have an at-home streaming date yet, Coyote vs. Acme is now available to pre-order digitally on several major platforms, including Fandango at Home and Apple TV for $25. Since the film is doing reasonably well in theaters it seems likely that it will be subject to a 45-day theatrical exclusivity window, which means that these digital editions will be available sometime in mid-October.

If you would rather hold out for a physical edition of the film, we do know that there will be a disc release of the film, likely on 4K UHD, Blu-ray and DVD. IGN reports that director Dave Green has not only confirmed that a physical home release is on the way, but that it will also include some exclusive extras including outtakes that he described as “not PG-rated.”

No release date or details have been released about this physical release, but hopefully more information will be revealed soon.

When will Coyote vs. Acme be free to stream on HBO Max?

Before the end of the year

HBO Max on a TV.

It seems somewhat ironic that a movie that was originally planned to be an HBO Max exclusive, and was then shelved and then subsequently rescued by a third party for a theatrical release, would eventually make its way to the very service it was originally intended for over three years later. But that seems to be the reality for Coyote vs. Acme, which will make its way to the Warner Bros.-owned streamer before the end of the year.

Assuming the film follows the standard two-and-a-half theatrical/premium VOD-to-steaming window, it seems likely that Coyote vs. Acme will be available for HBO Max subscribers to stream free in mid-December, right in time for the holidays.
