Yearn Shoemaker, out of China, has updated their Amalfi loafer colors to include a new forest green suede and two more streamlined brown/sand suede options. These new colors completely replace the original collection’s colorways and, in my humble opinion, offer an easier-to-swallow color choice for the average guy. While I loved the original colors myself, suedes that are too light can often be difficult to wear, not only because they are easier to dirty and harder to maintain, but also harder to match with. Let’s look at the new colors.

What instantly stands out is the new ‘Tuscan Pine’ suede. A deep green suede that is beautiful and easy to wear for those green lovers out there. I presume this will be the stand-out color of the bunch. While many will be afraid of green suede, I find that it is a color that is easier to wear than most think. Personally, I love to wear dark green suede with denim. It easily pairs well with your average chino color too. It is actually more versatile than most imagine.

The new brown tones are called Roasted Hazlenut and Warm Khaki. These are far more palatable than the original colors. Not that the original color offerings were not beautiful in their own right, but these two tones are more streamlined to what people already know and are used to. This is why I presume they opted for these new colors.

The Amalfi loafer is easily one of the coolest loafers in the industry. I love the design of it. It plays on all of the details I appreciate in a loafer: braided, sunken apron, a tasteful strap design, and a beautifully rounded last. It is knock-out-of-the-park, so to speak.

Even better is the fact that the new Tuscan Pine color can easily transition into an Autumn setting and wardrobe. Many of you out there love to live in loafers all year round. But doing so in lighter suedes can be a challenge. A nice, darker suede takes that challenge away and makes it seamlessly enter your Autumnal wardrobe!
