As the show continues to find new fans among younger viewers, Seinfeld‘s future on Netflix is becoming clearer. All nine seasons of the beloved sitcom are scheduled to leave Netflix USA on October 1, 2026, making September 30 the final day subscribers can stream the series. However, fans may not have to wait long to keep watching, as reports indicate that viewers can also purchase the series through digital services such as Prime Video, Apple TV, Fandango at Home and Google TV.

If the fans want to watch Seinfeld on Prime Video, they can buy or rent episodes or seasons digitally. Apple TV offers Seinfeld through digital purchases, not a subscription streaming library. Viewers can buy individual episodes or complete seasons and keep them in their Apple account. Additionally, the fans can purchase Seinfeld episodes and seasons digitally on Fandango at Home, which is a pay-per-title, not a monthly subscription.

Finally, they can also download individual Seinfeld episodes or entire seasons digitally through Google TV. It is available on compatible devices with a Google account. Like Apple TV and Fandango at Home, there is no recurring subscription to watch the content.

Meanwhile, the show’s departure is not due to a lack of popularity, but rather the way streaming rights agreements work.

Why is Netflix removing Seinfeld?

Seinfeld, which is considered by many to be one of the best Netflix sitcoms, is leaving the platform as the streaming service’s licensing deal with Sony Pictures Television for the show is due to expire in 2026. In 2021, Netflix acquired global streaming rights to the show in a five-year deal that gave subscribers exclusive access to all nine seasons. The series will be removed when the current licensing window closes unless a new deal is struck before the contract expires.

Once those rights expire, the show’s owner can either negotiate a renewal with Netflix or license the series to another platform. This is industry standard, with popular titles often shuffling between streaming services as companies look for the best deal on distribution and financials. As a result, the streaming home of long-running series can change multiple times over the course of their lifespan, even years after they originally aired.

Seinfeld‘s departure from Netflix marks the end of its current streaming chapter, but fans will still have a few options to get their fix of the iconic sitcom. Digital purchase and rental options mean Jerry, who might be running a chocolate factory, George, Elaine, and Kramer will be around long after the series leaves the platform. Now, whether the sitcom returns to Netflix or finds another new streaming home, its enduring popularity suggests that Seinfeld is unlikely to stay off viewers’ screens for long.
