Hi, I’m Jeff Altman, the Big Game Hunter, and I coach people in organizations to play big. Now, the Olympics are on right now. Yay! And athletes from all over the world are competing for the gold medal. They’ll settle for silver, they’ll settle for bronze, they’ll swallow hard and enjoy that moment in the sun even though they did not win gold. But understand one thing about each and every one of them. None of them was an Olympic athlete when they started out. After all, when you think about it, every master started off as a disaster. You know, some of these athletes were very young and started practicing, and they were awful. But it meant a lot to them and they tried to get better. And now here they are at the ultimate moment in their lives to get the gold medal.
Professional athletes, all of these people are talented. But talent isn’t enough, is it? There are a lot of extremely talented people who don’t always wind up getting the results that they want, right? Often, you know, talented people… well, I see any number of people who’ve showcased in clubs around New York in my life, and showcased in different places who are extremely talented, but they don’t get that opportunity to really shine on the big stage. And often, they’re going out themselves, they’ve got teachers, they’ve got advisors, and they’re not connecting.
The greats all have a coach that they work with, the ones that really help them excel. Professional athletes all do, and not only that, they practice incessantly, right? You know, you tell me that, you know, the Super Bowl champions don’t practice relentlessly? They don’t practice all out?
And what are you doing? Who’s helping you excel? You’ve plateaued, in all probability, and you’ve gotten complacent with where you are. There’s a part of you that’s given up excelling.
Hire a coach, whether it’s me or someone else. Get a coach to help you. Life is too short and, as I’ve said many times, a lifetime is not a long time. We like to think of ourselves as immortal, but, you know, that’s a foolish notion. During the time of your life, play big. Get out there. Get someone to work with you to spot your blind spots. Get feedback relentlessly. Try to improve yourself a little bit every day. If you did one-tenth of one percent per day about some aspect of your life that you’re unhappy with or you’re not completely satisfied with, you know, in a year, how much progress would you have made? I’m not going to do the math formula for you; go do it on your own.
But, you know, your goal, your objective has to be to leave it on the table, leave it on the field when it’s time for you to pass. Coaching will help you do that, as it has for so many others. I want to encourage you to get a coach. If you’re interested in me, reach out to me. You can email me at jeffaltmancoach@gmail.com or visit my site, nobscoachingadvice.com, and get some encouragement while you’re there. And then after that, reach out to me. Let’s schedule a session, let’s get acquainted. I want to help you succeed by your measure of success.
Have a great day.
