Trump-hating Republican Adam Kinzinger has been accused of hogging the limelight over his role in stopping a deadly knife attack in Milwaukee in 2006.
Kinzinger, 46, has been widely praised for saving the life of a young woman by wrestling her blade-wielding boyfriend to the ground in an act of heroism that jump-started his political career.
Megan Boschi, 41, was on a date with Kinzinger that night. Now, she wants to set the record straight, saying she and others also ‘played pivotal roles’ in stopping a homicide.
Kinzinger, then a 28-year-old US Air Force pilot, took the lead in confronting the attacker, says Boschi, but other have-a-go-heroes were written out of history.
Kinzinger talks about how he grappled Ryan Thundercloud to the ground in a new documentary, but fails to mention Boschi or anyone else.
‘I think given Adam’s role in the military, most people concentrated on his story,’ Boschi told DailyMail.com.
‘But I was there, the man who jumped off his motorcycle was there, and the girl who let a complete stranger bleeding from her neck get into her car was there as well.’
She added: ‘We all played pivotal roles in what happened that night.’

Megan Boschi was his girlfriend that fateful night in Milwaukee. She’s now a married mom-of-two who wants to set the historical record straight
A police report from 2006 shows that Thundercloud, a schizophrenic who had skipped a dose of medicine, was out drinking with his girlfriend Jerriann Lobermeir, in Milwaukee after midnight on August 17.
They got into a petty argument and, in an attack that Thundercloud put down to his schizophrenia, he repeatedly punched Lobermeir and sliced an eight-inch gash in her neck with a pocketknife.
He then chased her across the sidewalk as she begged for help from passing motorists.
Kinzinger and his then-girlfriend, Boschi, saw the attack and stepped in, according to a copy of a Milwaukee Police Department report that was unearthed in a public records request.
Kinzinger fought Thundercloud to the ground. Two other men passersby helped Kinzinger restrain him, and Boschi took his knife and threw it over a fence, says the report.
Lobermeir was taken to hospital and needed dozens of stitches.
Thundercloud, now 44, was arrested and charged with attempted homicide. He pleaded not guilty on the basis of mental health problems, and was locked up in an institution for nearly a decade.
Kinzinger was lionized by local media and received the Airman’s Medal for heroism in 2007.
That paved his way for a political run that in 2010 saw him elected to Congress, where he represented Illinois from 2011 to 2023.
He famously served on the select committee that probed the 2021 US Capitol attack and voted to impeach Donald Trump – making him an unpopular outlier among Republicans.

Megan Boschi, a radiologist whose maiden name was Alland, complains that she and the other passersby were left in Kinzinger’s shadow
He did not seek reelection in 2022 and is now a talking head on CNN.
Kinzinger was among those pre-emptively pardoned by former president Joe Biden on his last day in office on Monday — a protection from reprisals from the incoming Trump administration.
In a new documentary about his career, The Last Republican, Kinzinger relived those frantic moments in Wisconsin.
‘They say in a crisis half of the people run, 40 percent freeze and 10 percent act,’ he recalls in the documentary.
He describes a ‘close grapple’ with his 5ft 10in and 220lbs foe that could have gone badly for him.
‘I had his knife hand and I remember consciously feeling the knife hand trying to stab me, Kinzinger says.
‘It’s not a matter of pride now, it’s a matter of life to win.’
Kinzinger says he was able to overpower Thundercloud and pin him until cops arrived.
Over the coming weeks, he says he ‘suffered some PTSD from’ the shocking night
‘That moment on that street in Milwaukee utterly changed my life,’ he says.
Now, speaking exclusively with DailyMail.com, Boschi, a married mom-of-two, says she wants to tell her side of the story.

Adam Kinzinger talks about the 2006 attack in the new documentary The Last Republican

Aminah Hamdan, 40, says Republican politician Adam Kinzinger was a ‘hero for saving her from a knife attack in 2006
She complains that ‘my name has not been mentioned’ in records of the fateful night.
‘When Jerriann approached us, we knew immediately that she needed to get to a hospital but could see Thundercloud following her,’ she says.

Kinzinger received an Airman’s Medal for heroism in 2007
‘So while Adam approached him, she and I were trying to flag down a car to get her into a vehicle and get her medical attention as soon as possible.’
Once she’d gotten Lobermeir into the safety of a vehicle, Boschi says she rejoined Kinzinger.
‘I came back and saw Adam on top of Thundercloud and another man on top of Adam, who had stopped his motorcycle to help,’ says Boschi.
‘I ran up to them and grabbed the knife out of Thundercloud’s hand and threw it as far away as I could.
She added: ‘They kept him pinned down until the police showed up.’
Boschi, a radiologist whose maiden name was Alland, complains that while high-flying politician Kinzinger is lauded as a hero, she and the others were quickly forgotten.
‘I don’t know that Adam oversold his role that night, because he did take the initiative and risk approaching Thundercloud,’ she says.
‘But there were definitely a few others that were involved to help save her.’
Lobermeir, who has since changed her name to Aminah Hamdan, 40, has called Kinzinger a hero for stepping in and helping her that night.
But she’s also thanks Boschi and others, saying she’s not sure who did what in the confused, fast-moving incident.

Kinzinger served in the US House of Representatives for Illinois districts from 2011 to 2023

Hamdan has four children and is the founder of the Official Pet Boutique and other pet-grooming enterprises
Hamdan told DailyMail.com that she ‘didn’t really see’ who took Thundercloud down.
Were it not for the bravery of all the passersby, Hamdan says she could well have died in an ensuing attack.
That would have left the one-year-old son she shared with Thundercloud without a mom, she says.
And she would not have lived to have three other kids and launch a hit dog-grooming business.
‘It changed the trajectory of time for a lot of people,’ she said.
‘There’s a reason why God didn’t just take me right then and there.’
