Tiger Woods has made his return to social media for the first time since he announced he was seeking treatment following his arrest in March.
“My father was a Special Forces operator with two tours in Vietnam and 20 years of service,” Woods, 50, wrote via his Instagram Story to commemorate Memorial Day on Monday, May 25. “To all those like my father, we all say thank you for your sacrifices. Without them we wouldn’t have the greatest country on Earth.”
His girlfriend, Vanessa Trump, shared the statement to her story as well.
Tiger’s father, Earl Woods, served two tours in Vietnam. He died in 2006 from a heart attack at age 74.
Tiger’s post comes amid speculation that he has flown back to Switzerland to continue his treatment after briefly returning to his home in Florida. TMZ Sports reported on Sunday, May 24, that Tiger’s private plane departed from Florida the night before, landing in Switzerland that morning.
He first revealed he was seeking treatment on March 31, four days after a rollover car accident led to his arrest. Tiger pleaded not guilty to charges of DUI, property damage and refusal to submit a lawful (urine) test
“I know and understand the seriousness of the situation I find myself in today,” he wrote in a statement via X. “I am stepping away for a period of time to seek treatment and focus on my health. This is necessary in order for me to prioritize my well-being and work toward lasting recovery.”
Tiger continued, “I’ve committed to taking the time needed to return in a healthier, stronger, and more focused place, both personally and professionally. I appreciate your understanding and support, and ask for privacy for my family, loved ones and myself at this time.”
He first landed in Switzerland to begin his treatment on April 3, returning to Florida on May 13. One week later, Trump, 48, revealed she had been diagnosed with breast cancer.
“While this isn’t news anyone expects, I’m working closely with my medical team on a treatment plan,” she wrote in a statement posted via Instagram on Wednesday, May 20. “I would like to thank my doctors for performing a procedure earlier this week on me. I am staying focused and hopeful while surrounded by the love and support of my family, my kids, and those closest to me.”
Vanessa is the ex-wife of Donald Trump Jr., the oldest son of President Donald Trump. The two split in 2018 and she and Tiger have been together since 2024.
