When I asked them about how they channelled Dolly Parton through their looks, Lush Monsoon said, “We’re just hoping that Dolly imparts herself in all of us tonight and we’re able to give some of it. And I think all drag queens do carry some of Dolly’s essence.” 

Betta added, “It’s about being in your superhero costume and your avatar, which gives you the power, the wing, and everything. I heard that her driver for the longest time was a trans man. So even when nobody was talking about queer rights, she was a pioneer in that sense. For us, we didn’t grow up with Dolly, but it’s something we’ve revisited. And it’s amazing.”
