SPOILER ALERT: This post contains the winner of The Voice Season 29, which was revealed on Tuesday, April 14.
The Voice has crowned a new winner on NBC as Season 29 wrapped its season of “Battle of Champions.”
After a season-long singing, Alexia Jayy was named the Season 29 winner of The Voice, guided by Adam Levine.
The runners-up include Team John Legend’s Lucas West and Team Kelly Clarkson’s Mikenley Brown and Liv Ciara.
After her win on The Voice Season 29, Jayy’s single “Rent Free” is set to drop on April 15 at 12 a.m. ET. The song is produced by Grammy Award winners Jack Splash (Kendrick Lamar, Alicia Keys) and Jim Jonsin (Beyonce, Wiz Khalifa). The track blends a haunting intro and a punchy chorus, leaving you with a lasting impression. For Jayy, “‘Rent Free’ is about knowing your worth. Sometimes people don’t realize what they had until it’s gone, and by then you’ve already moved on. But somehow, you’re still the one on their mind.”
New this season, Xfinity introduced a prize for the winner: an Artist Launch kit. As a special gift, Jayy will receive her very own home recording studio, a place where she can create, play, and record music whenever inspiration strikes. To fuel her passion for music, Xfinity is also providing her with a full year of Xfinity Internet and Mobile, ensuring that her music can reach as far as her imagination.
During her Blind Audition, Jayy delivered a lights-out performance that showcased her rich, soulful tone and undeniable vocal control, with the classic ballad “(You Make Me Feel Like) a Natural Woman.” Each of the three coaches turned their chair for Jayy, giving her the chance to pick Levine, who had already deemed her the “best voice in the competition.” In the ultra competitive Battle Round, Jayy masterfully owned her part in the duet, performing the Commodores’ “Nightshift,“ beating out teammate Moses G, who was then stolen by Team Legend.
Sailing through the Knockout Round, Jayy boldly took the stage with Whitney Houston’s “You Give Good Love” and belted her heart out, winning over the coaches. For the semifinals, she continued tackling challenging vocal feats with an emotionally driven performance of “I Never Loved a Man (The Way I Loved You),” by Aretha Franklin.
This continued into tonight’s finale, with performances of Patti LaBelle’s “Lady Marmalade” and Adele’s “One and Only” that brought the coaching panel to their feet. Before being crowned the winner during tonight’s finale, Jayy was joined on stage by Levine for a duet of his Maroon 5 classic “Sunday Morning.”
