Almost nothing about the release of Project Hail Mary has been typical. From a longer-than-expected theatrical run to a delayed VOD release and an unexpected stop on streaming, there have been a lot of abnormalities when it comes to this movie versus almost any other film release. And now the Project Hail Mary’s physical home release has hit an unexpected speed bump.
Last week preorders for the DVD, Blu-ray and 4K editions of Project Hail Mary went live on Amazon. But now, just a few days later it looks like the 4K UltraHD edition of the disc is no longer available on Amazon. However, if you didn’t get a chance to preorder it just yet, we’ve got a Hail Mary for you:
Project Hail Mary is still available on 4K UHD at Walmart
You can still buy the Blu-ray or DVD from Amazon
If you want to preorder the Project Hail Mary 4K UHD, the only place you can still do so is Walmart. If you don’t mind the Blu-ray or the DVD however, those are also still available at Amazon, or at Walmart as well.
Though Barnes and Noble had a listing for the Project Hail Mary 4K/Blu-ray release earlier this year (with an Aug. 11 release date) that listing has not reappeared, and Best Buy also does not have any physical media listings for this film at all.
Project Hail Mary is now streaming on MGM+

MGM+ has some of the best films made by MGM Studios and a deep library of on-demand selections. It also offers MGM+ originals. giving only subscribers access to those shows. Some of the newest MGM films are also first available for streaming on MGM+
Earlier this week Project Hail Mary officially made its streaming subscription debut on Amazon’s niche service MGM+. This platform currently offers a 7-day free trial for new subscribers, so as long as you remember to cancel your subscription you can stream Project Hail ary for free with no commitments. If you want to stay subscribed, the service costs $8 per month for an ad-free plan. No ad-supported option is available.
If you don’t feel like subscribing to yet another streaming service, you can purchase Project Hail Mary on all major VOD platforms, including Apple TV, Amazon Prime Video on Demand, and Fandango at Home for $19.99 (rental) or $24.99.
Though it may take a while, Project Hail Mary will eventually stream on Amazon Prime Video. No announcements have been made just yet about timing, but it seems likely that a debut on Amazon’s much larger service will happen before the holiday season, perhaps as soon as this fall.
