Teenager found bleeding to death outside a hospital in Melbourne – as police launch urgent investigation

A teenage boy has bled to death outside a hospital in Melbourne’s north, with detectives investigating whether he was stabbed elsewhere before being dumped there.

The 15-year-old was discovered seriously injured outside the Cragieburn Community Hospital on Lygon Drive in Craigieburn about 7.50pm on Wednesday.

He was found face down on the pavement in a pool of blood, and a large hunting knife was recovered nearby.

Despite frantic efforts to revive him, he died at the scene. The teenager is yet to be formally identified.

Detectives are investigating whether the stabbing happened outside the hospital or at another location before the teenager was dumped there.

A 16-year-old boy and a 19-year-old man were arrested in Pacoe Vale about 5.30am on Thursday morning and are being interviewed by the Homicide Squad.

Anyone who witnessed the incident or has information or footage is urged to contact Crime Stoppers.

The Craigieburn Community Hospital is a 24-hour public healthcare facility that opened about a year ago.
