A teenage boy is fighting for life after he was stabbed at a school in Brisbane.

Emergency services were called to the Islamic College of Brisbane in Karawatha shortly before midday on Tuesday following reports of an alleged stabbing.

It is understood an altercation involving two boys took place in the school courtyard, where one was allegedly stabbed multiple times with a kitchen knife.

A Queensland Ambulance spokesperson confirmed a male patient, 17, was rushed to Princess Alexandra Hospital in a life-threatening condition.

Another teenage boy, 16, who was known to the wounded student, was arrested and is assisting police with inquiries.

The school was placed into lockdown during lunch, students told the ABC.

Multiple police cars remained at the scene on Tuesday afternoon.

‘Officers are currently conducting patrols of the nearby area and appealing to anyone who may have relevant CCTV or dashcam footage to contact police,’ a police statement read.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Policelink or Crime Stoppers.

The alleged incident unfolded just one day after students returned to school for term three.

‘We hope all our students and families have enjoyed a refreshing break and are ready to return with energy, focus, and excitement for term three,’ it posted online last week.

The Daily Mail has contacted the Islamic College of Brisbane for comment.

Opened in 1995, the co-ed school is administered by Independent Schools Queensland and consists of more than 1,700 students from years prep to 12.

One Nation leader Pauline Hanson visited the school earlier this month, where she wore an Israeli flag pin during a ‘robust conversation’ with school representatives.

Tuesday’s incident is the second alleged stabbing at a Queensland school in as many days.

A boy, 15, has been charged with intending to cause grievous bodily harm over an alleged incident at Trinity Bay State High near Cairns in Far North Queensland on Monday.

He was remanded in custody until the matter returns to court on Wednesday.
