A teenager is facing a string of charges after allegedly striking a woman with a stolen car while driving erratically through a major city centre.
The incident unfolded in Melbourne on Sunday, not far from where thousands were taking part in the Melbourne Marathon.
Police allege a 16-year-old boy was driving along tram tracks on Flinders Street when he struck a 57-year-old woman at about 10.45am.
The woman, who had been standing at the intersection of Elizabeth Street and Flinders Street, was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The teen allegedly performed a U-turn outside Flinders Street Station, where patrolling police and protective services officers drew their firearms.
The vehicle continued along Flinders Lane, where it allegedly struck several parked cars, which were unoccupied at the time.
The 16-year-old boy, from the Greater Dandenong area, was later arrested at Albert Park.
Police have confirmed the incident was not an act of terrorism or a targeted attack.
They allege the teen was driving a Ford Escape that had been stolen from a Cranbourne South business early on Sunday morning.
