The St. Regis Venice has elevated its interior setting through an exclusive collaboration with Swiss artist Simon Berger, unveiling four striking glass portraits that merge contemporary artistry with traditional Murano craftsmanship.
Simon Berger’s glass portrait series is titled ‘Four Icons.’ The collection pays homage to influential figures connected to Venice and the St. Regis legacy — Claude Monet, Caroline Astor, Carlo Scarpa, and Marchesa Luisa Casati. The likeness of these individuals was rendered through Berger’s innovative technique of hammer-etched glass portraiture.
‘Four Icons’ transforms the hotel’s Gran Salone into a dynamic gallery space while complementing existing works like Ai Weiwei’s chandelier. The glass portraits strategically occupy the St. Regis Venice’s afternoon tea service and will certainly appeal to those seeking more meaningful engagements with art.
