Friday the 13th franchise (8 films)
Summer camp isn’t over yet
Even those who haven’t seen the Friday the 13th films are likely familiar with its story. Since the franchise’s inception, the concept of a masked, undying killer terrorizing people at a summer camp has become a cornerstone of the slasher genre.
Though Jason Voorhees didn’t start as the franchise’s main killer, his presence looms throughout the Friday the 13th films, eventually becoming a horror icon rivaling Freddy Krueger and Michael Myers. With A24 and Peacock reviving the franchise with the prequel series, Crystal Lake, fans can prepare by exploring Jason’s rise to slasher stardom in the first eight films.

Sleepaway Camp franchise (3 films)
You won’t sleep after streaming this slasher saga
In a classic slasher film setup, the Sleepaway Camp films depict a serial killer slaughtering people at a teenage summer camp. Though the franchise has spawned five films, only the first three movies are available on Pluto TV. The franchise isn’t as popular as slasher franchises like Halloween, A Nightmare on Elm Street, or Friday the 13th. However, Sleepaway still developed a cult following over the years, thanks to the original’s shocking storyline, making it a noteworthy watch for horror fans.

Paranormal Activity franchise (6 films)
While The Blair Witch Project popularized the found-footage genre, Paranormal Activity reinvigorated it with simple but terrifying depictions of a haunted house. In each film, we follow a family who sets up cameras in their homes to capture supernatural disturbances linked to an invisible demon.
With the first film grossing $193 million on a $15,000 budget, according to Box Office Mojo, Paranormal Activity launched a massive horror franchise that shows no signs of going to sleep anytime soon. With the franchise’s first six films now on Pluto TV, fans can relive the horror as they wait for the eighth film coming on May 21, 2027.

Scary Movie franchise (5 films)
Horror and comedy collide in this classic franchise
Scary Movie recently made a comeback with its long-awaited sixth movie. Though said sequel isn’t available on Pluto TV, all the preceding films are available for free. As one of the longest-running parody film franchises ever, Scary Movie has spoofed frightening franchises like Scream, I Know What You Did Last Summer, and The Blair Witch Project. However, it has gone beyond horror to riff on franchises like The Matrix and Inception, showing that no franchise is safe from this series of savage spoofs.

A Haunted House franchise (2 films)
Enter a house of horror and hilarity
This entire horror-comedy franchise is free to stream on Pluto TV. Similar to his iconic Scary Movie, actor Marlon Wayans’ A Haunted House films poke fun at modern horror films like Paranormal Activity, Insidious, and The Conjuring. Both films see Wayans’ character move into a house with his girlfriend, where he deals with supernatural chaos and demonic possession. However, things go wrong in the most ridiculous way possible, making for spooky, spoof-filled entertainment.

Resident Evil franchise (2 films)
Evil comes home, and they’re not playing games
The Resident Evil video game franchise returned to the spotlight with the recent release of filmmaker Zach Cregger’s bold reboot. At the same time, audiences have drawn comparisons to Paul W.S. Anderson’s film series led by actress Milla Jovovich.
With almost perfect timing, Pluto TV has added two installments of filmmaker Anderson’s action-horror franchise: the first Resident Evil film and its first sequel, Resident Evil: Apocalypse. Fans can now revisit Anderson’s cult-classic saga and see how far the Resident Evil franchise has gone since it hit theaters in the early 2000s.
