Washington Commanders starting quarterback Jayden Daniels suffered a gruesome injury to his elbow that caused Fox Sports commentator Tom Brady to curse on national television.

During the late-window game against the Dallas Cowboys, Daniels lost his footing after an offensive lineman stepped on his foot.

As he was going to the ground, Daniels held his hand out to break his fall, only for his non-throwing elbow to buckle.

Following the game, Commanders head coach Dan Quinn revealed that Daniels suffered a dislocated elbow and is expected to miss some time.

Quinn also mentioned that X-Rays on the injury did not reveal any fractures.

Video replay clearly showed a pop in Daniels’ arm, causing both Brady and on-air partner Kevin Burkhardt to grimace in pain.

Daniels needed to be carted off after suffering an injury to the same elbow he hurt last year

‘Oh, s***,’ Brady said on the broadcast before he quickly caught himself and said, ‘Excuse me.’

Daniels was taken off the field in a cart as the quarterback wore a towel draped over his head.

The injury to Daniels comes to the same elbow that led to him missing most of the back half of the 2025 season. 

Daniels dislocated his left elbow in Week 9 of the 2025 season against the Seattle Seahawks, but eventually worked his way to a return in Week 14.

But in that game against the Minnesota Vikings, Daniels landed on his elbow after throwing an interception and was ruled out for the remainder of the season.

Now, with this new injury, it’s possible that Daniels will need to undergo more serious treatment.

One sports medicine doctor, Brian Sutterer MD, believes Daniels may need surgery due to ‘persistent instability’ in the elbow which could see him miss the rest of the season.

The injury was gruesome enough for Tom Brady to curse on live television after seeing a replay

Daniels was replaced at quarterback by veteran Marcus Mariota. Prior to his exit, the third-year signal caller completed 11 of 17 passes for 96 yards and a touchdown, while adding seven carries for 69 yards on the ground.

Brady’s coarse language would show up again later in the game, when he described a throw by Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott as a ‘pi** missile up the sideline.’

The Cowboys defeated the Commanders 37-20, dropping Washington to 0-2 on the season.
