Sharon Stone Jokes About Sydney Sweeney’s Euphoria Nude Scenes

Sharon Stone playfully poked fun at Sydney Sweeney‘s story line on Euphoria that led to her stripping down several times.

“In Euphoria, I tried to get Sydney Sweeney’s character to stop being a cam girl and to come and work for me on the series I was producing called L.A. Nights,” Stone, 68, who played executive showrunner Patty Lance, told Variety on Thursday, September 17.

Stone pointed out that Cassie’s (Sweeney) decision changed as the show went on, further fueled by the desperate money situation her husband Nate Jacobs (Jacob Elordi) was in due to borrowing hundreds of thousands of dollars from a loan shark to cover the costs of a retirement-home construction project.

“And she agreed to stop being a cam girl — which she didn’t do,” Stone added before quipping, “As you can see from Sydney’s new lingerie line, it didn’t take.”

Sydney Sweeney has been candid about what goes into stripping down for nude scenes in Euphoria and other projects. After Euphoria premiered in 2019, Sweeney, who plays Cassie, opened up about the downsides of being naked on screen. “I don’t think as many people took me seriously in Euphoria because I took my shirt off,” […]

Sweeney, 29, played Cassie since Euphoria premiered in 2019. In the show’s third and final season, creator Sam Levinson received backlash for how he portrayed Cassie’s OnlyFans arc after some content creators weren’t thrilled with how their line of work was portrayed on screen.

Levinson, 41, however, defended the decision to push boundaries.

“[Cassie] has got her dog house and her little dog ears and the nose, and that has its own humor,” Levinson explained to The Hollywood Reporter in April. “But what makes the scene is the fact that her housekeeper is the one filming it.”

He continued: “What we wanted to always find is the other layer of absurdity that we’re able to tie into it so that we’re not too inside of her fantasy or illusion,” he added. “The gag is to jump out, to break the wall.”

Levinson stood by his vision at the time.

Theo James, Dakota Johnson and more actors have opened up about their nude scenes — and broke down the experience of going full frontal. James raised eyebrows with his performance as Cameron during season 2 of The White Lotus, particularly in a memorable scene where Harper (Aubrey Plaza) accidentally snuck a peek at Cameron (James) […]

“Some of these scenes we only lit with these ring lights that she would use. When you’re inside, it’s a beautiful, glowing front light, but then you jump out of it and it’s just a pool of light and everything surrounding it is dark. It’s just gnarly and jarring,” he added. “We wanted to capture what she’s trying to show the audience and be inside of it. But then also pull back wider and see how depressing it is.”

Sweeney, meanwhile, has remained unbothered as viewers have dissected her decision to go full frontal multiple times on the show.

“I grew up with boobs. I was wearing a 32DD in sixth grade, and I never felt confident,” Sweeney exclusively told Us in March. “I never had anything I felt good in, and I just wanted to hide. It wasn’t until [I played] Cassie in Euphoria that I started realizing it’s actually powerful to be confident; our bodies are incredible. We should embrace [them] and feel really good in our skin.”

Euphoria is currently streaming on HBO.
