During a recent episode of the podcast Funny You Ask with Ike Barinholtz, actor Seth Rogen openly dismissed Sylvester Stallone’s filmography. The comedian agreed with the host that the action star has
only made about four truly quality motion pictures throughout his extensive
career. Rogen confessed that he does not care about the celebrated Rocky
franchise, labelling them simply as sports movies.
“I don’t give a s*** about any Rocky movies”, he
said. Instead, he praised Demolition Man and Cop Land while
mocking poorly received features like Daylight and Driven. The
actor stated that he has been bitten far more frequently by bad Stallone films.
The discussion quickly shifted toward praising Arnold Schwarzenegger as the
superior action star with vastly superior projects.
Rogen highlighted masterpieces like Terminator 2,
Predator, and True Lies as legitimately great cinematic
achievements. He concluded that the Austrian superstar possesses a far more
consistent and elite filmography than his primary rival.
“I mean, Stallone has no Terminator 2. You know what I
mean? Or True Lies. Like, like Schwarzenegger’s in like, legit great
movies,” Rogen said in
the Funny You Ask with Ike Barinholtz podcast.
Despite these critical dismissals, the Sylvester Stallone
boasts an incredibly successful list of blockbusters.
A breakdown of the acclaimed and high grossing Sylvester Stallone masterpieces
Sylvester Stallone originally achieved global superstardom
with his breakout 1976 masterpiece Rocky. He extended this massive
cultural dominance by portraying the traumatized Vietnam veteran John Rambo
across the highly popular Rambo franchise. These iconic roles
successfully established the performer as a quintessential Hollywood
powerhouse.
During the 1990s, the star secured massive box office hits
with the high-altitude thriller Cliffhanger and the sci-fi feature Demolition
Man. He later earned immense critical acclaim by stepping outside his
traditional physical mold to portray a vulnerable, partially deaf small-town
sheriff in the gritty drama Cop Land. The star united legendary screen icons in The
Expendables trilogy.
