Job Search Mistakes– Only Relying on Recruiters

If you’re going to apply for a job, which day of the week is better to submit your application or send your resume? Which days of the week are worse?

I’m Jeff Altman, The Big Game Hunter. People hire me for nose job search coaching and career advice globally because I make the process of finding work and succeeding at it much easier. I did recruiting for a hell of a long time, filled a lot of positions, and I just want to say to you that early in the week is better.

Now, I’m not saying Monday morning at 8:30 you should submit your resume because it’ll get lost. Monday morning early, people wind up being busy on the corporate side, even on the agency side; they’re catching up with things, maybe they’re doing orientation at the firm, and it’s going to sit in their inbox and then get overwhelmed. Have it arrive mid-morning on Monday. Tuesday morning is another good time. The later you get in the week for submitting your resume, the less effective it is, until Friday, it’s an absolute waste of time.

Now, this gets adjusted if it’s a holiday weekend, a three-day weekend. No one wants to see your resume on Tuesday morning. Fourth of July, this week, this year, this is 2025 as I’m recording this, was on a Friday. Do you think anyone wanted to see your resume that Thursday? Be smart about it. If there’s a holiday, you didn’t want to do work as you approach the holiday. They don’t either. And the short version I want to say is, early in the week is better than later.
