Season 2 of this Tom Hardy gangster classic is finally dropping on Paramount+ ‣ Diverse Daily

There’s no shortage of action shows these days, and you can check out Lioness if you want to see a harrowing espionage story or Reacher to follow a badass character taking down baddies. Mobland is a gritty gangster show set in modern London and should appeal to people who enjoyed Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man. The series premiered on Paramount+ in 2025 and the new season is dropping soon, promising more thrills and action.

Mobland’s success was no surprise to anyone considering its all-star cast, including the always-watchable Tom Hardy, and scenery-chewing performances from Pierce Brosnan Helen Mirren. It’s directed and executive produced by British gangster movie specialist, Guy Ritchie, who creates another underworld tale with flamboyant style and eccentric characters.

What is Mobland about?

A gritty underworld tale

Mobland follows Harry Da Souza (Tom Hardy), a fixer for the Harrigan Irish crime family run by Conrad (Pierce Brosnan) and his wife, Maeve (Helen Mirren). His job is to take care of unwanted problems and do the family’s dirty work in the London underworld. Things get complicated when the son of the Harrigan’s fiercest enemy, Ritchie Stevenson (Geof Bell), goes missing. He blames Harrigans for the disappearance and Harry must do whatever he can to stop an all-out war.

Harry must also deal with the family’s expansion ambitions and the complications it brings, like cleaning up crime scenes and sniffing out the rats betraying them. His criminal lifestyle causes tension with his wife and daughter, who don’t appreciate the police knocking on their door in the middle of the night, and needing to go into hiding when their lives are threatened.

All this comes together in explosive fashion with gang wars and volatile characters fighting for survival in a ruthless world filled with double-cross and betrayal. Guy Ritchie’s in his element and provides a pulpy slice of gangster life filled with enough shootouts and car chases to keep fans entertained and guessing until the end.

I can’t talk about Mobland without mentioning the performances. Tom Hardy’s Harry exudes quiet menace while he uses brains and brawn to get impossible tasks done. Pierce Brosnan and Helen Mirren ham it up as the unhinged Conrad and Maeve Harrigan, who never back down from a fight, and don’t think twice about putting their family in danger.

The supporting cast deliver stellar performances which make Mobland feel like a real lived-in world. Paddy Constantine shines as Harrigan’s son, Kevin, who just wants a normal life in the midst of chaos. Joanne Foggart adds grounding to the series as Harry’s wife, Jan, who sees events unfolding from the eyes of a mother and wife who isn’t part of the criminal underworld, but nevertheless suffers its consequences.

Mobland fans don’t have to wait long as the new season drops later this month. Season 2 is slated for release on Paramount+ on September 18. Thereafter, the ten-episode season will run until November 20 with new installments being released every Friday.

What will happen in Mobland Season 2?

New enemies to fight

Season 1 ended with the Harrigans winning the war against the Stephensons at a huge personal cost. The family is now fragmented and the police and rival criminals smell blood in the water and think it’s the perfect time to move against them.

Harry must survive an unfortunate accident from the end of Season 1 and bring the family together to face the new threats if they want to survive. It won’t be easy as the Harrigan’s are unpredictable and also at war with each other. We can expect to see more action and suspense as they battle it out for control of London.
