Scott Pendlebury reveals how many gold-numbered jerseys will feature in milestone match

Footy champion Scott Pendlebury has announced he will wear 11 gold numbered jerseys in his record breaking 433rd AFL match.

Pendlebury, 38, is set to reach the summit in terms of all-time footy appearances, when he lines up for the Collingwood Magpies against the West Coast Eagles.

Reports have claimed he could wear as many as 12 jerseys, but he’s now revealed he will wear 11 instead.

‘There’ll be one jumper I have to [give to]… the AFL…’ Pendlebury told the Ausmerican Aces Podcast.

‘The club gets 4 that they can put in archives, museum, whatever they want to do with it.

‘Then I get what’s left, which will be going to family, mum and dad, one each for my my kids, one to both my brothers, and that’s it.’

Pendlebury will finally break the record for most AFL games played by any player when Magpies host the Eagles at the MCG.

Since he was drafted with the No.5 pick in 2005, Pendlebury has been a warrior for the Magpies, notching up 432 games across 22 seasons.

He has become one of Collingwood’s most decorated players, winning two AFL premierships and the 2010 Norm Smith Medal.

The former Magpies captain is a six-time All-Australian, five-time Copeland Trophy winner and the club’s games record holder.

He’s also earned multiple honours for leadership and Anzac Day performances throughout his career.

Pendlebury is currently locked on the most AFL matches with North Melbourne great Brent ‘Boomer’ Harvey, but is set to overtake him on Saturday.

The 38-year-old’s boots for the occasion are to be adorned by designs made by his kids.

One has been designed by his son Jax while the other features drawings and writing by his daughter Darcy.
