Ryan Lochte doesn’t appear to have any regrets about getting engaged to Molly Gillihan amid his ongoing divorce from estranged wife Kayla Rae Reid.
“Correction: Apparently I’m not allowed to say I’m divorced until every signature is in place,” Lochte, 41, wrote via his Instagram Story on Monday, June 22. “So, while we’ve reached an agreement, the judge hasn’t officially signed off yet. My mistake for thinking the hard part was over.”
In his latest social media post, the Olympian — who shares three kids with Reid, 34 — asked for prayers as the Christian song “Trust in God” by Elevation Worship played in the background.
“Molly and I are realizing this may just be the beginning of a very tough and exhausting road,” he claimed. “Prayers appreciated while we navigate this new reality. It seems someone wants to make sure this chapter isn’t quite done with me yet.”
Lochte’s post came hours after Reid shared an update on her ongoing divorce. (The pair split in June 2025 after seven years of marriage.)
In her own Instagram Story, the host of “The Comeback Era” podcast said she is not divorced yet, “but I am close.”

“It’s so funny. You know, I blocked certain people over a year ago so I don’t see anything these said people say or do,” she claimed. “You guys just like to inform me unfortunately.”
News broke on Friday, June 19, that Lochte and Gillihan, 37, were engaged after going public with their romance in July 2025.
The proposal occurred in Gainesville, Florida, at the same restaurant where they had their first date. He placed rose petals from the entrance leading to their table in honor of the occasion.
“Since the world knows – yes, I am going to marry @ryanlochte. ❤️ The truth is, words could never fully express how deeply, disgustingly obsessed and in love with this man I am,” Gillihan wrote via Instagram on Sunday, June 21. “He became my safe place, my greatest supporter, my best friend and the love of my life. Ryan, you have my whole heart. You have my deepest love, my unwavering loyalty and the rest of my days. I am so incredibly grateful that through all the twists and turns of life, we found our way to each other.”
In a separate Instagram post, Lochte shared a video of the proposal and praised his fiancée for bringing him “back to life.”
“When I felt lost, when I didn’t recognize the person staring back at me in the mirror, you never stopped believing in me,” he wrote via Instagram. “You helped me find myself again, and I’ll forever be grateful for that. You came into my life when I needed you most and showed me what real love, support and happiness look like. Because of you, my heart is full again.”
