Independent professional wrestler Jordan Saint has died in a car crash. He was 23.

Saint, whose real name was Jordan Nasir St. Fort Colin, was driving on Bethpage State Parkway in Long Island, N.Y., on Friday morning, June 12, when he was hit by another vehicle, according to New York State Police (NYSP), per News 12 Long Island.

The other driver crossed over the yellow median and hit Saint's vehicle head-on, per the outlet.

The NYSP did not immediately respond to PEOPLE's request for comment.

News of the athlete's death was shared by Pandemonium: Pro Wrestling in a tribute statement posted on X on Sunday, June 14.

“This morning we were informed that our dear friend Jordan Saint unexpectedly passed away from a car accident,” the organization wrote.

“Jordan was a very talented wrestler but those that knew him, know that he was truly an unbelievable human,” the organization continued. ”He touched so many people with his kindness, his [passion], his personality and his charm. Jordan never folded & never changed for anyone if it meant it sacrificed who he was. He wore his heart on his sleeve at all times and we loved him for it.”

“We will miss Jordan dearly and hope if you're reading this you will keep his family in your thoughts,” the organization added.

Indiana-based wrestling promotion Naptown All-Pro Wrestling also posted a tribute to Saint on X, sharing that they were “devastated” by the news.

“Hardheaded & dedicated to his craft, Jordan was quick to soak up knowledge. Combined with his superb athleticism, he took to all aspects of in-ring competition lightning fast," the company wrote. "A true diamond-tier prospect, we're heartbroken to know we won't see his full potential achieved."

The company added that Saint “exemplifies everything we want Naptown All Pro to be.”

“There will never be another Jordan Saint, and NAP keeps his family, friends, and fans in our thoughts,” the organization said.

Tributes have since poured in from friends and fans.

“Another young soul taken from us too soon. R.I.P Jordan 🙏🏼” one fan wrote on X.

“Woke up to the news and this one hurts so bad. just saw you in vegas where you couldn't stop telling me how proud you were of me. this doesn't seem real. i love you big bro,” fellow wrestler Emily Jaye posted.
