Being mistaken for Reese Witherspoon—what, like it’s hard? 

Well, actually, the Oscar winner acknowledges that for daughter Ava Phillippe it may be more difficult than judging a tighty-whitey contest for Lambda Kappa Pi.

But, “I love being mistaken for her,” the Legally Blonde star, told Gayle King during a 2021 interview with InStyle, “because it makes me feel so young.” However, she noted, the 26-year-old—who made her acting debut on the ABC drama Doctor Odyssey—might be seriously disturbed. 

“I’m so proud of her,” continued Witherspoon, also mom to lookalike Deacon Phillippe, 22, with ex-husband Ryan Phillippe and Tennessee Toth, 13, with former spouse Jim Toth. “She really rolls with it. I’m sure it’s not easy looking exactly like your mother.” 

And on the days it feels particularly tough, she can phone a friend: Witherspoon’s Big Little Lies costar Zoë Kravitz, 37.

Since she and her actress mom Lisa Bonet, 58, “look exactly alike,” Witherspoon explained, “whenever Ava is frustrated, I go, ‘Call Zoë, text Zoë, she knows what to talk about.’ I mean, that’s another mother-daughter combo that’s like identical twins.”
