Project Hail Mary will finally be free to stream for Amazon Prime subscribers ‣ Diverse Daily

Just in time for the long 4th of July weekend, acclaimed sci-fi flick Project Hail Mary is finally heading home to Amazon Prime Video. Amazon has announced that the movie, after a short streaming exclusivity window on sister streamer MGM+, will be making its way to Amazon Prime Video in just a few days on July 3, 2026, where it is expected to stay indefinitely.

Interestingly, it looks like Project Hail Mary will still be available on MGM+ for at least the time being, so fans of this film who already subscribed to that service with the express intention of watching this movie, should be OK at least for the time being.

After announcing the highly anticipated move to Prime Video, Amazon shared a new clip from the film on YouTube, embedded below:

Stock has been selling out intermittently so don’t wait

Those who want to own a physical edition of Project Hail Mary now also have an additional option. Though the standard edition of the Blu-ray and 4K versions of this movie went up for pre-order several weeks ago, a limited edition 4K steelbook edition has also been announced. This special version includes the film on both 4K and Blu-ray with all previously announced bonus features, a special edition box and slipcover, and a mystery third disc (which may be exclusive bonus features or a different cut of the film). This collector’s edition is available for pre-order now on Amazon as well for $50.

Because of intense interest in this item, preorders have been selling out periodically. However, the item’s stock typically refreshes once every few days, so keep refreshing and checking back if the item says sold out at first.

Currently this special edition disc is set for an October 13 release, putting it behind the August 11 street date for the standard edition 4K and Blu-ray. However, if the additional disc does contain additional special features or a different cut of the film, that may explain why this specific version is coming a full two months after the standard edition, as that additional content may have required extra time to produce.

Those who don’t want to stream Project Hail Mary on MGM+ or Amazon Prime Video, and don’t feel like waiting until August (or October) for the movie’s physical release have an additional option, as the movie is still available to purchase on all major VOD platforms, including Apple TV, Amazon Prime Video on Demand, and Fandango at Home for $20 (rental) or $25.
