Princess Eugenie, the younger daughter of the former Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson, Jack got engaged to Jack after seven years of dating in January 2018. They married that October in a royal wedding at St. George's Chapel at Windsor Castle in a celebration attended by Queen Elizabeth, Prince Philip and many members of the royal family.

The couple became parents when their son August Philip Hawke was born in February 2021. The couple's family expanded again when their second son Ernest George Ronnie was born in May 2023, just a few weeks after King Charles' coronation.

Their latest happy news, however, comes in the midst of a tumultuous time for Eugenie's family. In October 2025, King Charles stripped Andrew and Ferguson of their royal honors and longtime residence as the gradual release of the Epstein files revealed the depth of their alleged ties with the late convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. Andrew has repeatedly denied any wrongdoing in connection with Epstein, and Ferguson has not been accused of any.

Then, in February, Andrew was arrested on suspicion of misconduct in public office, related to a claim that he shared confidential information with Epstein during his time as a trade envoy for the U.K. Following the arrest, a source told PEOPLE that Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie were trying to "stay away" from the controversy surrounding their parents. "They have young children, and this is their grandfather — their focus is on protecting their own children from this," the insider said.

At the same time, another source, a family friend, told PEOPLE in a March 2026 cover story that Beatrice and Eugenie are clinging to their royal clout amid the turmoil, explaining,  "They want to hold on to their royal status. It’s their identity."

In 2022, Jack took on a new job with property tycoon Mike Meldman, who is a business partner of George Clooney. The role led him and Eugenie to decide that they would divide their time between the U.K. and Portugal for his new position, basing their family in both places.

Following the loss of their titles and longtime home at Royal Lodge, Eugenie's parents have also relocated. Andrew is now living on the Sandringham estate in Norfolk, while a source close to Ferguson told PEOPLE that she planned to find her own home and was “going to move forward independently.” Most recently, she was tracked down to a mountain hideaway in the Austrian Alps.

After those photos were published, Ferguson's cousin-by-marriage Martin Barrantes spoke to the Daily Mail about Ferguson's decision to stay out of the spotlight.

"I have spoken to her [and] can tell you that she just wants to protect her children and her grandchildren," Barrantes said. "She loves her children more than anything and will do anything for them."

Though they were both born with royal titles, and were permitted to keep them after Andrew lost his, Princess Eugenie and her sister Princess Beatrice are not full-time working royals like their cousin Prince William. Instead, they make their living with day jobs. Princess Eugenie studied art history and English literature at Newcastle University and has worked as a director at the London art gallery Hauser & Wirth since 2015.

She also champions several charitable causes, including Scoliosis Association UK, Teenage Cancer Trust and Elephant Family, plus runs The Anti-Slavery Collective.

A climate advocate like her uncle King Charles, Eugenie previously said she was raising her children to be activists for a brighter world around them.

"My son's going to be an activist from 2 years old, which is in a couple of days. So, he, everything is for them," Eugenie said about her son August in a 2023 interview at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.

"I talked to Peter Thomson, the U.N. Special Envoy for Oceans, and all he says to me is that I do this for my grandchildren. And that's the same," she explained, the Daily Mail reported. "Every decision we now make has to be for whether August, what he's going to be able to look at and do and how he's going to live his life."
