Bill Gates has issued a chilling warning about the global terror artificial intelligence could unleash.
The billionaire Microsoft co-founder warned the AI era will be deeply turbulent, could cost millions their jobs and help create a devastating ‘bioterrorism weapon’ capable of threatening humanity.
It is a scenario bosses of tech companies are intentionally hiding from the public, the 70-year-old mogul claimed yesterday. In an essay, Mr Gates argued we have surpassed the warning signs, as AI continues to develop at an ‘uncontrolled’ rate.
‘AI will either be the greatest equaliser ever invented, or the worst source of injustice,’ he said. ‘Even under the best circumstances, the transition to this new AI era will be one of the most turbulent times in human history.’
Now it’s time to have your say – do you believe AI is a threat to humanity?
