Kojima Productions has denied the speculations made in a recent Bloomberg article about Physint, although it does not entirely rule out the accuracy of its reporting. Earlier this month, Bloomberg reported in an article that PlayStation has stepped away from the project as Kojima missed deadlines and the production was not profitable for Sony. Kojima will now be publishing Physint with PlayStation’s biggest rival, Microsoft Corp.’s Xbox. However, the production company has pushed back on some of these claims.
The video game development company has also raised concerns about the impact of media speculation surrounding their upcoming next-generation action-espionage game.
Kojima Productions clears up PlayStation relationship
Kojima Productions shared a statement on X debunking the recent Bloomberg article. They began by confirming that none of the claims came from any official record and hence should be taken with a pinch of salt.
“While we recognise that the article may have caused alarm, we want to reassure you all, for the record: that the studio is in a healthy, profitable state, development for Physint continues to move forward with Xbox, and our relationship with PlayStation remains strong.”

The Bloomberg article also claimed that Kojima Productions’ previous collaboration with PlayStation, Death Stranding, was not a success, which led Sony to drop Physint, now starring a horror heavyweight. Kojima Productions has addressed the claims with a clear statement.
“These aspersions around our relationship with PlayStation, the commercial performance of the DEATH STRANDING franchise, and the broader production planning and investment for PHYSINT, have reached beyond the studio”.
Despite reaffirming the positive relationship with PlayStation, Hideo Kojima did express regret over Sony parting ways with Physint.
Hideo Kojima went blank after Sony’s split
During an interview with The Washington Post, Hideo Kojima shared how “shocked” he was when Sony decided to drop Physint. This came after Kojima produced the critically successful 2019’s Death Stranding and its 2025 sequel.

“We couldn’t understand it. Jim Ryan had already retired, but I thought this was a project that Sony Interactive Entertainment and I had agreed to team up on and make together.”
Nonetheless, after the official clarification, it is clear that the studio is in a healthy, profitable state and development of Physint is continuing smoothly.
