Fred Johnson, the Philadelphia Eagles offensive tackle accused of dumping his pregnant girlfriend to pursue women on dating apps, has issued a cryptic statement amid the online controversy.
‘God ain’t bring me this far just to leave me,’ the 28-year-old NFL journeyman wrote on Instagram. ‘This to (sic) shall pass. I love you all.’
His grammatical mistake notwithstanding, Johnson’s post appears to be a response to claims made by his now-former partner, identified online as Lyss Okada.
In a series of TikTok videos, the eight-month pregnant Okada spoke ‘hypothetically’ about a man moving on from his pregnant girlfriend
‘Hypothetically, if a man were to kick out his eight-month pregnant girlfriend and unborn daughter and be on Hinge the very next day looking for women to have fun with, hypothetically you would not think that man is a good man or good father,’ she said in a lengthy video on Friday.
‘You would not think that man would have any form of decency, integrity or have morals if, hypothetically, those situations were true, those would be some sh***y f***ing people, in my opinion.’

Fred Johnson’s eight-month pregnant girlfriend Lyss Okada has said he has dumped her

Johnson initially responded on Instagram, writing the ‘smartest flex isn’t revenge,’ before adding his most recent post on Monday.
Okada has also been attacked over her erstwhile relationship with Johnson, leading her to respond to that criticism in another TikTok video.
‘I just truly think it’s time people stop blaming women for the partners they choose,’ she said. ‘And start blaming partners for pretending to be something that they are not.
‘What I’ve realized is there are so many people quick to say “what did you do” or “you knew what you were getting yourself into.” That is not true.
‘No woman ever knowingly goes into a situation thinking this person is going to hurt me, this person is going to lie to me, this person is going to be a completely different person to the one he is showing me.’
The 28-year-old Johnson is one of the top backups at his position and he proved crucial in Philadelphia while filling in for All-Pro starters Lane Johnson and Jordan Mailata last season.
The 6ft 7in, 326-pound West Palm native attended Florida before three seasons with the Cincinnati Bengals and one with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He’s spent the last three seasons in Philadelphia.
