Passenger accused of making bomb threats on Brisbane flight from Sydney Airport


A man allegedly travelling under a fake name has been accused of making bomb threats on a flight to Brisbane from Sydney Airport. 

The 44-year-old man was heard by other passengers making references to a bomb while talking on his phone before take-off on January 14. 

He was escorted off the plane by police officers who later discovered the man was allegedly travelling under a fake name. 

The plane was searched and no threat of a bomb was detected. 

The man has since been charged with one count of count of taking a constitutional flight with a ticket obtained with false identity information and one count of threatening aviation security.

He is due to appear in Downing Centre Local Court on Wednesday.

The charge holds a maximum penalty of 12 months jail and a $16,000 fine.
